Happy New Year, Young Dems!
I just wanted to remind you of tomorrow’s mixer with CPL at the Hungarian Club of Toledo at 6PM. Further details are up on the LCYD Facebook wall.
Before you head over to the Club, however, there is a Volunteer Appreciation Event being held by Carol Contrada at Michaels Bar, 901 Monroe Street, from 5-6PM. I’m proud we had the chance to help her campaign last year, and its time to get together and celebrate her success!
As we begin the new year, there is so much to be thankful for and celebrate, but there’s also (as always) work to be done. The first meeting of the year, at which elections will occur, will be held this Thursday, January 6 at 6PM at Dem HQ (1817 Madison Avenue). Make sure to be there and let your voice be heard on who represents the Young Democrats of the County!

During the past two years, President Obama and Congressional Democrats have been fighting hard on behalf of the American people. Working to secure economic stability, fairness, and opportunity and overcoming challenges largely inherited when President Obama took office.
As 2010 and the 111th Congress near a close, Democrats can reflect on the past two years with pride. In keeping with America’s age-old, year-end tradition to list the “best of,” today’s post marks the first in a series of year-end superlatives.
Due to the vigorous productivity of the 111th Congress, this list is not comprehensive and may differ for different people – this is only one version.
Without further adieu, Democrats’ Top 10 Accomplishments of the past two years.
10. Passing Credit Card Reform (CARD Act)
Protects Americans from unfair and misleading credit card practices
9. Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

America is making steady progress toward recovery. Although our country still has a long way to go, President Obama and Democrats in the 111th Congress have enacted essential changes that pulled America from the brink of economic and financial meltdown and invested in a new economic foundation for the long run.

The Center for Progressive Leadership will be hosting an “info mixer”, hoping to connect with Alumni and any prospective program participants for both the Political Leaders Fellowship and the New Leaders Program. Invite your progressive friends!
This is a great program and network of people to know, learn from, and teach. Betsy Ujvagi, Vice-President and Carrie Russell, Treasurer, took part in the Political Leaders Fellowship and New Leaders Training, respectively, in 2010.
